Although
our purpose is to ferry you out to Garinish Island, the short
trip itself is an experience in its own right.
The secluded woodland setting of the Blue
Pool is home to kingfishers among other woodland and water
birds, and, as the boat crosses the clear, clean, unpolluted
waters of Glengarriff Harbour, you may see cormorants, guillemots,
shags, herons, terns, oyster catchers, black-backed gulls
and our own resident swans.
In the summer, of course, we are also hosts
to our regular visitors the swallows and the swifts who perform
such incredible aerial acrobatics over land and sea.

Each
trip to the Island always makes a short detour to pass near
the rocks where the seals that make their home in the bay
clamber out to sunbathe. They are very accommodating creatures
and will be happy to pose for your photographs!
