The Trip

Although our purpose is to ferry you out to Garinish Island, the short trip itself is an experience in its own right.

  • We operate a ferry service leaving the Blue Pool approximately every 30 minutes.
  • The boat trip takes about 15 minutes one way.
  • The crossing allows a unique perspective of the beautiful sheltered harbour and the surrounding landscapes.
  • Seal Safari: Glengarriff harbour is home to one of the largest seal colonies in Ireland. En route to Garinish Island we slow down briefly at the various rocks to observe and photograph the seals in their natural habitat. Keep an eye out for these other marine animals: kingfishers, ducks, cormorants, swans, herons, guillemots, swallows, swifts, shags, terns, oyster catchers, black-backed gulls and the occasional dolphin or porpoise.

This can all be seen in the video below.
